World Tourism Day



This Sunday is World Tourism Day and to celebrate helloworld, Australia's leading integrated travel group will be creating social media history with the world's first instagram relay #helloworldRELAY.

The relay has already captured the attention of over 60 countries and 80 destinations around the globe who have signed up to participate and through creative and inspiring images captured by influential instagrammers, countries, cities, people and places will be shared via the admired and popular social media platform Instagram.

To intensify the celebrations some participating destination will hold gatherings in the way of 'instameets', offering the public the opportunity to join in the festivities and be part of this social media history-making event.

All of Australia's states have joined the relay and welcome residents and visitors to get involved to help showcase the diversity and beauty of each region.  Details of the instameets happening around the country are as follows:

New South Wales Instameet

Sydney with its sparkling harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House is a content-fuelled destination and perfect place to hold Australia's leading instameet.  To maximize the famous landmarks, Destination New South Wales will start the instameet underneath the iconic Harbour Bridge and conclude it at Mrs Macquarie's Chair looking back at the Opera House and the bridge.

When: 3:00pm, Sunday 27th September 2015

Where: boardwalk opposite the Park Hyatt Hotel adjacent to Hickson road reserve

World Heritage-listed paradise Lord Howe Island will be making the most of its exotic location hosting a 'stand-up-instameet' on the water at Lagoon Beach. Stand-up-paddle boards will be available from the boat shed or participants are welcome to bring their own boards to enjoy this different 'stand' on instameets.  A celebration BBQ on the beach will conclude the festivities.  Meet @jewelszee at Lagoon Beach to stand up and be part of this special event.

Queensland Instameet

The only place where two world heritage wonders meet: The Great Barrier Reef and the tropical rainforest wilderness of the Daintree National Park, this destination is a photographers paradise.

South Australia Instameet

For those who love sharing travel pics with the world, grab your cameras, get snapping and join the fun of an instameet at the OzAsia Festival in Elder Park, ‪#‎Adelaide.

Australia's Island State - Tasmania

Hobart will keep participants on their toes and on the move during their mobile Instameet which will kick off at 10:30am on Sunday with morning tea at the Lenna of Hobart. Built in 1874, Lenna is a landmark Hobart hotel associated with Hobart's early maritime history.  Next the group will jump on the Red Decker – a distinctive bright red UK double decker bus, to experience the architectural and cultural beauty of Hobart. Key highlights include Hobart's oldest and historic suburb Battery Point, the stunning city's waterfront, the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Australia's oldest operating brewery Cascade and the World Heritage-listed Cascades Female Factory. To get involved RSVP via Instagram to @hobartandbeyond.
