We all love to feel like our best stylish selves, and heeled mules do just that. They’re a timeless classic that never go out of style. Originating in Ancient Rome, they went on to become popular in the French Court, worn regularly by Marie Antoinette. Since, we’ve seen them donned by Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Kate Moss.

Since it doesn’t seem as though heeled mules will go out of style anytime soon, we all aim to look as effortlessly chic in them as Marie Antoinette. But what are the rules? Can we wear them with anything? Here are five ways to wear heeled mules.

With jeans

The great thing about heeled mules is they look amazing even paired with basic clothing. For an effortlessly casual look, heeled mules go great with jeans. Whether you prefer a skinny fit, flared leg or mom jean, heeled mules will always be a perfect accompaniment for denim. Pair the mules and jeans with a loose-fitting blouse or stylish tee, and you’ve nailed an effortless day to night look.

With palazzo pants

Palazzo pants are all the rage at the moment. They’re loose-fitting, stylish and elegant, and look great in bright colours or fun prints. Palazzo pants go amazingly well with your heeled mules. The long flowing leg invites an open back slip on and prevents the pants from dragging on the floor. It’s a timeless look that is both comfortable and stylish – and better yet, it requires minimal effort.

At work

Heeled mules aren’t just suitable for social events. They’re an adaptable shoe also perfect for professional environments. Pair with your favourite cigarette trousers and a smart blouse for the work meeting, or with your smart jeans for the after-work drinks. Don’t forget to pick a demure colour for the office – no furry mules or pompoms when you’re doing your printing. A smart, sleek pair in black or brown with a block heel works best. You’ll know the office vibe best, so you’ll know what’s most appropriate.

With midi skirts or dresses

We know that the midi skirt has made a huge comeback. Most of us don’t have a wardrobe without at least one or two. Midi skirts and dresses are incredibly versatile, as they can be worn all year round. They also go incredibly well with heeled mules. Wear in summer with an elegant pastel print, or in winter with opaque tights. Don’t forget to make sure that your mules match or compliment the dress for the ideal feminine look.

At your evening thing

Heeled mules are great for work and casual events, but they can also be dressed up for formal occasions. There’s a reason Cinderella lost her shoe! Nail the glamorous look by pairing them with a ball gown, tied-up hair and red lipstick. You won’t need to worry about knowing what cutlery to use if you’re impressing everyone with your elegant heeled mules. They will ensure that you look elegant, sophisticated and dazzle, no matter the occasion.
