As the world is advancing through technological perspectives, the education sector is also keen on exploring different learning methods and judging students’ abilities via multiple conventions. While some colleges are carrying on with the traditional method of conducting exams solely, some are paying extra attention to assess students’ knowledge about a particular subject through impromptu tests, surprise course tests, class assignments, and exams. That's something too much to figure out about the academic strength of a student.

You know, according to the recently conducted survey, the majority of the students prefer assignments over exams. They believe that exams are not worthy and consider them as the old age methods of testing true knowledge. The demand for assignment help in Australia and other significant regions has also surged up in the past few years that evinces the need for assignments in an academic division.

The Evolution of Education and Learnings Among Students

Gone are the days when the professors used to employ conventional teaching methods by paying little attention to the student’s needs. Now the approach is progressing towards implementing the agile teaching methodology. The purpose of education has completely transformed all these years. While the parents earlier were only concerned about the child's performance, they have now interested themselves in knowing the capability, and the learning modality student is coping with.

The high-stakes test, long-form answers in exams, and the fear of securing low marks always give students heebie-jeebies. The purpose of having a fruitful education will never be fulfilled unless the students are overly stressed while attempting the same. Basing a student's academic abilities through an exam paper is by no means a precise method of assessment.

Assignments VS Exams

The professors are remembered among students for using well-crafted formative and performance assessments that eventually help students to set meaningful goals for them in life. Ever since education is making headway to the modern learning methodologies, the colleges have been opting for a different approach to assessment. For thousands of years, exams have been one of the prevalent mediums used by universities and colleges to evaluate students’ learning mechanisms. Parents, too, use the test performance to gauge a student's academic strengths and weaknesses. But is it the right way to settle upon determining the candidate’s academic viability or rather the only way to do so?

While involving in the conversation with students of different colleges, we collected a few facts that should come to knowledge to many. A student from The University of Melbourne who has enrolled himself to pursue Business Management says, “I prefer the classes with homework and weekly tests instead of teachers going with the approach of final exams. The one assessment does not give a clear idea to the professor about how much the student has learned.”

Exams provoke a lot of anxiety among students as it requires them to just accumulate information about the subject. However, the assignments like report writing or case analysis allow students to be creative, explore their research skills, and draw up an effective answer for the questions. Moreover, the assignments allow students to get involved in the conversation with the professors and gather sufficient knowledge about the subject or topic.

Assignments involve higher-order thinking than exams do, and that is something appreciated by multitudes of students. The current education system demands students to learn many skills and gain a high knowledge of seemingly diverse concepts for which the exams alone are not enough.

The students who are pursuing a degree course would eventually be dreaming of settling up with a decent pay job. Although, the businesses nowadays go beyond only looking at the grades students have secured. They conclude their decision after looking at the people skills, their ability to get along well with co-workers, and how profoundly they carry out the assigned task.

Why Do Students Do Well in Assignments but Fall Through During Exams?

One of the major reasons why the students do not perform adequately in the exam as compared to assignments is due to the restriction of time. In assignments, the students are provided with a timeline, and all the tasks, whether it is about conducting research, gathering materials, and pulling off a decent solution, come across within a stipulated deadline.

Another reason the students prefer assignment over exam is that they get the opportunity to run a thorough research on the given topic and instil significant information, and forming individual interpretations. Moreover, many universities prefer online examinations that allow students to take part in assessments from the comfort of their home, but online examinations also have contradictory outcomes.

Conclusion

Assignments have always been a proclivity for students. After allying with assignment help provider or someone connoisseur in the field, the students get the prospect of creating assignments and the protocols that should be followed while working on the same. Many students believe the fact that they can know more about the subject and its concept by working on an assignment instead of preparing for the exams.
