You know the Rheem brand, the leaders in water heating in Australia?  Rheem heat pump hot water, gas and solar systems are all class leading but let’s not forget the mainstay of water heating, Rheem’s electric hot water systems. If not, don't worry. In this article, we'll list the top four and explain what makes each so special.

But First, What Is An Electric Water Heater?

An electric water heater, as the name suggests, uses electricity to heat water. In most cases, they'll have a storage tank that keeps a set amount of water hot and ready to use at all times. Electric water heaters are a popular choice because they're relatively inexpensive to install and operate.

Rheem Brand Electric Hot Water Systems

Now that we're clear on what electric water heaters are, let's take a look at some of the most popular models from Rheem.

Rheem Stellar Stainless Steel

The Rheem Stellar is a modern and convenient product that is available in 50 to 315-litre models. It is made of high-quality stainless steel, which makes it both durable and less demanding of maintenance. One of the unique features of this electric hot water system is that it's 42% lighter than similar models, allowing for easy transport and installation. The Stellar Stainless Steel is also noteworthy for its 12 year cylinder warranty - one of the highest terms Rheem offers.

RheemPlus Electric Water Heater

Available in capacities of 125L, 160L, 250L and 315L, the RheemPlus Electric Water Heater is built to last, with a 50ºC pre-tempered system. This product is also unique in that it has an adjustable valve, which allows you to deliver 50ºC water at the tap. As with the Stellar Stainless Steel, the RheemPlus also comes with a 12 year cylinder warranty.

Rheem 491/492 Series

The Rheem 491/492 Series is one of the company's most flexible electric water heaters, being available in an extremely broad range of sizes yet maintaining compatibility with previous models. It touts dual handed fittings, a thicker 27mm anode and exclusive Rheem Ultranamel® - a proprietary enamel that is more durable than the domestic grade Class X. This series also offers twin element models for greater heating efficiency.

Rheem Compact

An answer to the needs of those short on space, the Rheem Compact is one of the smallest electric water heaters on the market. It measures just 390mm high (25L) and 670mm high (47L), with a diameter of 385mm (25L) or 400mm (47L). Despite its small size, it still offers a competitive hot water delivery of up to 47L.

There are many models available in the Rheem electric hot water system range, each with its own individual benefits. Be sure to do your research to find the perfect fit for your home.
