Diving Into The Top Social Events To Look Forward To Post Quarantine
- Written by Sarah Williams
Taking a look at some of the long missed gatherings and top social events people are looking forward to a return after the quarantine downtime.
Ughhh. Another day in quarantine.
What day are we at now? It could be the thousandth for all we know. Heck, it feels like the gazillionth…
We get it though. With over 2.2 million cases of COVID in America (and counting), something needs to be done to bring this disease under control.
If that means staying indoors a little while longer, then so be it.
However, there are only so many hours you can spend watching Netflix before you go crazy! To mix things up a bit, we started daydreaming about the top social events there are to look forward to in our post-quarantine future.
Are you looking for something to take your mind of lockdown? Want some inspiration for planning the best social gatherings and top social activities possible for when it’s all over? Let us help!
Read on for our take on the best social events and activities to help you plan what to do after quarantine.
Coffee Dates
We can’t count how many cups of Joe we’ve drunk over the last few weeks in quarantine.
Too many, probably! But you can’t blame us. After all, with so much craziness going on outside, there’s nothing better than a warm cup of coffee to provide a pick-me-up.
One thing’s for sure, though, none of them have been quite as satisfying as the ones we consume on coffee dates with close friends.
Sharing a virtual cup of coffee on a video chat’s all well and good. But it’s not the same as being at the café together, sinking into comfy couches and spinning yarns while you watch the world go by! As soon as lockdown lifts we’ll be straight back into the local café to pick up where we left off.
Meals Out With Friends and Family
One of the worst parts of quarantine is, without a doubt, the enforced time away from friends and family. Some people haven’t seen their closest loved ones for weeks!
Frankly, with so much time by yourself, it can all get a little lonely.
Combine that fact with an unshakable love of good food, and we can’t wait to start going out for meals again! There’s nothing better than going to a restaurant with friends and/or family, sharing a meal, and letting the good times (and the wine) flow.
Not having to do the washing up will be a bonus too!
Meals In with Friends and Family
Having said that, though, these aren’t exactly times of unbridled affluence.
Coronavirus has put jobs and savings on the line. Many of us are struggling financially and will continue to do so even when lockdown lifts. The idea of eating out is all too tempting, but we might not have to spare cash to do it straight away!
Never mind. You don’t have to go out to catch up with friends and family.
We’re all up for inviting everybody around to our place and cooking something up instead. It’s more intimate anyway, and there are no social rules and regulations to restrict dinnertime conversation and behavior!
Summer BBQs
Ahh, summer.
The warm months are upon us, which makes it even sadder that we’re stuck indoors most of the time! We’d love nothing more than spending our days outside in the sunshine.
For now, though, we’ll have to make do with daydreaming about it. And, as soon as we’re allowed out, we’ll be cooking up a big-time BBQ for everybody we know.
Well buy a trailer-load (these great options would do) of food, grill up a feast, break out the beers, light a campfire, and stay out too late under the stars. Throw in some laid-back tunes and the communal atmosphere, and there’s surely no better way to spend a summer’s day!
Trips to the Cinema
Is anybody else truly getting their money’s worth from Netflix right now?
With nothing much to do and a mighty desire for distraction, it’s been something of a life-saver. We can’t remember the last time we had so much opportunity to watch (and re-watch) our favorite films and series of past and present.
But watching anything on the TV or laptop is never quite the same as seeing something on the big screen. As diehard cinema-goers with a particular penchant for popcorn, the lockdown has been an absolute nightmare!
That’s why we can’t wait to meet up with friends for a good old-fashioned trip to the cinema. Even better, a host of new releases are sure to coincide with lockdown being lifted.
Post-Work Drinks
There’s something lovely about going for drinks with colleagues after work. Having spent a long and stressful day in the office, it’s a great way to unwind, connect, and feel human again.
Alas, remote working strips away that possibility.
You’re at home and working alone, cut off from the daily interactions you’re used to. And, as nice as a virtual drink can be, it lacks the buzz and vibe of being out with colleagues at a local bar.
We’re assuming that post-work drinks might look a little different after all this is over. Anyone for sipping wine through a facemask? All the same, we’re looking forward to it anyway — along with all the gossip to catch up on around the watercooler the next day.
Look Forward to These Top Social Events!
Let’s face it, life in lockdown is full of challenges.
But it’s absolutely necessary to fight the spread of the coronavirus. There’s nothing else to do but make the best of a bad situation! Sooner or later everything will be back to normal and we’ll look back on this time with a strange sense of wonder.
Until then, though, we’ll be daydreaming about all the top social events we’ll be doing when quarantine’s finally over! Hopefully, the ideas in this post will help you do the same.
